Sermon Given by Pastor Darrell Schmid. Pastor for Heartland Worship Center Agra, Ks.
1 Peter 2: 11-25
The Hero’s of this world they will fail you. Christ is a hero who will never fail you. As Peter shows in these verses, there are four examples Jesus left for you to follow. I Peter 2: 21, “For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.”
1. In Holiness. Scripture references: Leviticus 11:45, “For I am the Lord who brought you up from the land of Egypt, to be your God; you shall be holy, for I am holy.” and 1 Peter 2:22, “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” Jesus was sincere in all His words and actions. Holiness is a condition of the heart. Did you realize unholiness always starts with what we speak?
2. In Prayer. Scripture reference: 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing.” Jesus prayed when in trouble, when making decisions, for his enemies, when persecuted. **The Most important time for you is when you are shut in with God. (Did I hear an Amen?)
3. In Persecution. Scripture reference: 1 Peter 2:23, “When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.” Jesus shows meekness and patience. You need to be meek and mild when persecuted. Most persecution comes from within the church?
4. In Commitment – 1 Peter 2:23, “When He was reviled and insulted. He did not revile or offer insult in return; (when) He was abused and suffered, He made not threats (of vengeance); but He entrusted (Himself and everything) to Him Who judges fairly.” (Amplified Bible). Commit yourself to the Lord. Life is all about Him and about others. Realize the results are not in your hand but the Lord’s! Be committed to leave it all in His Hand.
Quit following the world’s examples, they will fail you. Follow Jesus as your perfect example!
